Endangered species involved in roadkill

Usage of viaducts
Does animal use it?

Malayan Tapir is on the brink of extinction, being a victim in the roadkill has worsened the problem and because of these reasons, it has been chosen as primary research subjects to roadkill issue. The quantities of sixty-eight Malayan Tapirs killed to prove that these species prefer to use the road for crossing. From this result, we can evaluate the distance of the ecoviaduct where the roadkill happened. The shortest distance found in Negeri Sembilan approximately 15.29km and the longest one in Pahang, which is about 208.07km. The shortest distance may be related to eco-viaduct effectiveness. Due to the lack of efficiency of these wildlife crossings, those animals did not feel attracted to use it.
The time it takes certain species to adapt to a crossing structure or natural fluctuations in wildlife populations can cause low crossing rates. Furthermore, most of wild animals are not very obedient in following trails to the viaducts.
In short, there are lot of improvisation which require huge cost that need to be done in order for eco-viaducts to work in reducing roadkill.
